The Navsari police on Saturday handed over the compensation amount of Rs 3 lakh each to the family members of two young people from the Dangs tribe who died in custody in Chikhli.

Navsari District Police Superintendent Rushikesh Upadhyay accompanied by Dangs BJP Deputy Vijay Patel and Dangs BJP Chairman Mangal Gavit arrived in Vaghai Taluka and delivered checks of Rs 3 lakh each to Neeruben Pawar , mother of the late Sunil Pawar, and Mahesh Jadav, eldest. brother of the late Ravi Jadav.

Upadhyay said, “We have carried out a detailed document verification and identified the true beneficiaries and today we have returned the compensation amount to the beneficiaries. Ravi is an orphan while Sunil has his mother and older sister. We took the bank account number of the two beneficiaries. We are also dealing with the accused involved in this case and they will soon be arrested. “

The two tribal youths, Sunil and Ravi, both 19, were arrested for vehicle theft on July 20 at the Chikhli police station. The next day, the bodies of the two young people were found hanged with an electric cable connected to a computer system in the computer room. On July 22, Police Commissioner Rushikesh Upadhyay suspended five police officers, including Chikhli Police Inspector Ajitsinh Wala in connection with the incident.

Navsari Police on July 28 recorded a murder offense against five officers from the Chikhli Police Station identified as Chikhli Police Station Inspector Ajitsinh Wala, Deputy Police Inspector MB Kokni, Police Chief Shaktisinh Zala, Agents Ramji Yadav and Ravindra Rathod, and one unidentified person. .
